Common signs: upstairs rooms that stay hot in summer, high cooling bills, or an AC that runs all afternoon. In the attic, if you can see the tops of your ceiling joists, the insulation is too thin.
Both reach the same R-value when installed at the right depth. Cellulose is denser and made mostly from recycled paper. Fiberglass is lighter and doesn't hold moisture. We'll recommend one based on your attic.
Open cell foam is lighter and softer, and it's the usual choice under the roof deck in homes. Closed cell foam is denser, insulates more per inch and blocks moisture, which makes it a good fit for metal buildings and shops.
We fit a calibrated fan into an exterior door and pull air out of the house to measure how leaky it is. We also test the ducts for leaks and take basic air quality readings. You get a written report that shows where your home is losing air.
Most blown-in attic jobs are done in a few hours. Spray foam, removal and larger jobs can take longer. Your quote lists the schedule before you book.
